World’s largest web forums

Message boards, or forums, have been used on the Internet since 1969 – even before the advent of the first web browser, the WorldWideWeb, in 1990 – are very popular among web users looking for extra help or information or simply wanting to interact with fellow surfers. The most popular forums get some two million posts per day, therefor it is important to keep Internet etiquette, or netiquette, in mind.

According to Wikipedia 4chan receives an average of 100-200,000 posts. A day. Someone edit the list and remove GayOnline please.

  2. txtface says:

“forums… used on the web” is indeed incorrect because the “Web” (as we know it now, the public part of the Internet) was introduced by Tim Berners Lee and Robert Cailliau on December, 25 1990. That sentence is now edited. But the Internet was in use since 1969 and did include a format that reflected forums or usenets or however one wants to refer to an Internet discussion board. Even the French Minitel system, started in 1981 and officially launched in 1984, featured forums.
