The planet Vulcan, home of Spock

If you’re a Star Trek fan then you would know that the parents of Spock are Amanda, a human, and Sarek, an ambassador from the planet Vulcan.

Where is the planet Vulcan? In 1845, French astronomer Jean Joseph Leverrier proposed that Vulcan existed between Mercury and the sun as an explanation of a discrepancy in Mercury’s orbit. At certain times, Mercury appears to move backward. Einstein’s theory of relativity later explained Mercury’s orbit.

In the mean time, Vulcan seem to have moved and is now thought to be in the inner asteroid belt of the planetary system Epsilon Eridani, about 10 light years, or 62 trillion miles away from earth.
